Director, Patient Safety and Quality Research
Currently, his research is focused on advancing the integration of evolving information technologies into the practice and evaluation of newborn care. He has been a faculty member of the AHRQ-funded Center for Patient Safety in NICU Care and since 2000 has been on the faculty of the Vermont Oxford's Neonatal Quality Improvement Collaborative. His current work includes the development of new approaches for evaluating the impact of neonatal intensive care technologies. Here he has developed strategies for the use of industrial modeling techniques to examine regional systems of perinatal care, and has applied these to study diffusion strategies for new medical device technologies in the neonatal intensive care unit.
